Sorry for the extra long update time. I just started school and I was out of the country for most the summer, but here is my new poem!
Thanks for reading!

The Sea of Love
The door closes,
Tears fall, Emotions take over,
The lovers embrace and kiss,
She is forced to part.
Slowly drifting through the seas,
Shots fired, soldiers wounded,
As she treats her patients,
A nurse is staring out into the deep
Wondering when she will see her love again.
He sits in a chair,
Next to the window where she once stood,
To look out over the exquisite ocean view,
Only to find his mind wondering,
When he will see her again.
She is treating the wounded and injured,
While thinking about him.
She looks out to the sea,
Just to see an image of Him sitting by the window,
Wondering when he will see her again.
A few months later,
He raises from the chair,
To answer the door,
There she is,
Home from sea
With a harsh, happy look on her face,
She runs into his arms,
To join him in an embrace,
She sees the joy in his eyes and kisses him.
Just as she did before she left for sea.

Author's Note: The inspiration for this poem comes from a personal experience. I was told about a story of a nurse in a war who had to leave her family to serve her country. She was stationed on a boat to serve as a nurse to help the wounded and injured. As I kept this story in mind, I decided to finally write something about it because the story actually stuck with me for the remainder of high school. Mr. Oldani, the teacher who introduced the story to me, is a great teacher, even though he is retired now. I hope you enjoyed the poem. Feel free to comment.
